WOYWW #269

Good morning everyone!  This week is flying by and all of a sudden it is Wednesday and the day I get to share what's on my workdesk!  This little bit fun is hosted by Julia and we all take a picture of our space and blog about it, then link up to Julia's blog and then we have a huge blog hop that includes crafters from all over the world!  Julia has all the rules and regulations listed along the top of her blog so if you want to be one of us just jump in with both feet!

We have had a wonderful growing season here in East Tennessee and my garden has been producing like never before!  So I have been overwhelmed with the work that goes into  getting the veggies from the garden to the jar.

I raise an heirloom bean called "Turkey Craw" and each year I try to save some seeds as I never know if I will be able to find the seeds from year to year.  They are a pole bean and large and beautiful!

These are yellow cherry tomatoes and yellow pear tomatoes.  Again heirloom tomatoes and so wonderful on my salads!  I've had a bumper crop of these; I grow them in containers next to my deck!

The red tomatoes are the ones I can and they have a wonderful sweet flavor.  Also cucumbers and peppers are coming in as well.

My canner at work.  To date I have canned 73 quarts of green beans and 14 quarts of tomatoes.  I have had my nose to the grindstone!

So you can see what I have been into...not much crafting going on but lots of hard work in my kitchen!

OK, now I'm off to visit some of the people participating in the hop.  It's always nice to see what you have going on in your world!

Glenda, your beans look like the beans we call Louise beans. My family was from KY and we have saved this seed for yours. They are the best. We also have another bean that we call Mammi beans or Fall Beans as they are the last bean to produce. The rumor is that the slaves gave them to my Great Great Great grandmother. Of course we don't know if this is true or not. My canning season is just starting although I have canned beets and froze strawberries.
Your veggies look wonderful and will be so yummy this winter. What else do you can. Corn is just starting in Indiana and I will be freezing that soon.
Have fun and don't work too hard.

Yummy looking veggies, Glenda! I prefer my tomatoes uncooked so I'll enjoy them as they are now. Oh guess I better hurry or you'll have canned them all. ;) Take a breath and enjoy some desk hopping. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #61

So lovely to see the beautiful colors of nature in your gorgeous garden produce. I just love the colors. Lots of hard work, but in the end you will have months of enjoyment as you feast at your table. I enjoy canning, but when it is 97 degrees and 95% humidity here in Georgia-forget it....lol

Fab. Is there anything more appetizing than a pile of fresh, colourful veg? Somehow, a bit pile o' steak just doesn't have the same effect :)

Enjoy!

Happy WOYWW!

PS currently cooking a lot from River Cottage Veg everyday. Wish I had your garden ....or your green thumb.

Thanks for sharing your garden goodies with us Glenda! Your canning looks fabulous! I don't do as much canning as I used to since it's only hubby & I but I do look forward to putting up some piccalilli each year and last year we came up with 2 new recipes for those small green tomatoes that we just hate to toss but don't know what to do with each year ... well we have it covered this year! Last year was just a TEST ... (only 6 pints each) but we'll be doing a lot more this year! Daughter does most of the canning now and she does a fabulous job ... must have done a good job of teaching her! LOL! HUGS from OHIO ...

Wow, Glenda...those veg are fabulous! I've never seen those pear tomatoes before, they're a funky shape :-). I have never canned veg before..is it an easy process? And are the veg raw when you open the can in a few months' time? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just interested!

Wow, Glenda. An amazingly productive garden you have! When you say canned - do you mean bottled? Those pear tomatoes are fabulous - never seen those before. You will have plenty to take you through the winter with everything you have grown.
Thanks for visiting and for your comments.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Glenda, also loving the pear tomatoes! We don't get them over here. Your Pole Beans look like what we know as Kidney Beans, or Runner Beans. It's exhausting just reading the post, lol, you have been so busy. Have a great week, Hugs, Shax #6 xxx

Gosh, you have been busy! I can hardly resist popping those sweet little tomatoes straight to my mouth from the vine. Better than candy by a long shot! Fresh green beans have a hard time making it to the cooking pot, too. The bounty this time of year is magnificent!
